In Perfect Harmony: Harmony Motel, Twentynine Palms
Updated: Oct 5, 2018
During my time in Joshua Tree I stayed at the Harmony Motel in Twentynine Palms. Fun fact: U2 stayed there while recording their Joshua Tree album.
There are a lot of places to stay around Joshua Tree National Park. When it comes to finding the perfect place that meets your needs, Google is your friend. I looked up "places to stay near Joshua Tree National Park". That's how I found Harmony Motel in Twentynine Palms a little over a mile from one of the park entrances.
I knew I picked the right place when I woke up early (still on east coast time) and watched the sun rise over the mountains in the distance. The motel is situated at the top of a hill outside of downtown Twentynine Palms which makes it the perfect place to watch the gorgeous desert sunrises.
For the first part of the trip, my friend and I stayed in the main part of the motel. The room was the perfect size for two people and was a comfortable calm place for us to crash after long days hiking around the park. Our room had a small kitchen attached to it. I would highly recommend making sure you have access to the kitchen if you stay here. There's one by the main office, but it was nice to have a place to sit and eat breakfast in the mornings and our own place to make food to take on the trail. We stopped by a grocery store on our way to the motel and picked up some breakfast food, snacks, and carb heavy trail food. Being able to sit in the hot tub after hiking all day was also a plus.
We had to move to the cabin for our last night. Besides being a little further from the pool it was definitely an upgrade size wise and we still had a kitchen.
The location, atmosphere, and friendly staff made this an ideal place to stay for our desert adventure.
