Joshua Tree Desert Rock Show: Split rock
Joshua Tree rocks!...literally and figuratively. And yes you can cringe at that dad joke. Joshua Tree is a climber's paradise with trails specifically marked for climbers and a rock for every skill level. I am nowhere near being able to climb anything at Joshua Tree, but good news is you don't have to be a climber to enjoy the vast array of formations. You can enjoy them just as much with your feet planted firmly on the ground.
After watching an amazing sunrise my friend and I headed off to the park. We started at a trail called Split Rock. Named for....surprise!...a rock that looks like its been split down the middle. The landscape was incredible. It feels like you've been transported to another planet. It is true high desert. This is also one of the shorter trails so not only do you get to see a lot, but it's also a great way to easy yourself into your trip especially if you're like me and want to cram as many trails as possible into one day.
The rock I'm walking toward in the fifth picture is Split Rock.
