The park after dark: stargazing in Joshua Tree

After you've watched that amazing desert sunset, stick around for another show. When the sun goes down and darkness falls the stars come out to play. There is no light pollution here so you can see straight to the milky way. The Cholla Cactus garden is a good place for star gazing so stay put after you watch the sun set there. Look up the proper settings for your camera and be sure to have a tripod handy to get some awesome starry night shots. It also helps to have some kind of red light flashlight so you can see what you're doing without blinding your fellow star watchers.
